The Disney Half Marathon -
I’ve been giving this a lot of thought lately, and I’ve decided that I would like to run it. Nothing has EVER challenged me as much as running has, and the simple fact that I think I can’t do it, is all the reason that I absolutely want to. I want to push myself and beat myself and show myself that I am a badass when I absolutely want to be. And I think…this just might be the way to prove it to myself. AND HEY! I get to go to Disneyland, which…I never have been! And being a Californian…that’s pretty much an abomination on my part. So what a better way to spend my first time there, yeah?
So since I’ve decided on doing this, I’ve been all over the internet doing research for the last hour and a half or so. I’ve found out that they are holding the races in September and also again in November. I may be shooting for the one in November, that way I can have a couple of extra months to save up for the plane ticket, a place to stay, and of course visit the park for a day!
I ALSO found an “18 Week Training Guide" on the website. It starts on May 1st and will have me half marathon ready JUST in time for the September races. Which will be absolutely fantastic.
I think this is possibly the best decision I’ve made for myself in a long time. So this month, I’m going to get up to my 5k, possibly run a 10k, then come May 1st…I’m ready for my 3 day a week training to beast this in November. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am!
